Newcomer Community Cookbook
Welcome to the Newcomer Community Cookbook!
Here you will find recipes for delicious food from around the world, demonstrated by clients and staff from The Immigrant Education Society (TIES). Our cookbook is a loving work in progress, so check back often for more recipes.
What is the Newcomer Community Cookbook?
Although people come from different cultures and languages, there is one thing many of us have in common: a love of good food. The Newcomer Community Cookbook celebrates global food and cuisine through a series of videos that showcase recipes from around the world, demonstrated by newcomers in Calgary. In addition to cooking videos, we have also produced various videos highlighting local immigrant-owned restaurants.
The Cookbook's mission is to encourage new immigrants and refugees to become community leaders and share their knowledge. Featuring traditional recipes used by Calgary immigrants places newcomer participants in positions where they are teachers, authorities on a subject and sources of knowledge.
